De'Sean Jones is from Detroit by way of Denver Colorado. He was raised in the church and was exposed to music at an early age. At the age of thirteen he got his first taste of real jazz by listening to the sounds of Charlie Parker and John Coltrane, which inspired him greatly, and shortly thereafter, De'Sean took up the saxophone and started his journey as a musician.
The bulk of De'Sean's musical experiences occurred after relocating to Detroit when he was 15. De'Sean attended and graduated from the Detroit School of Arts and participated in the Detroit Civic Jazz Orchestra for three years. Through both school and the DSO (Detroit Symphony Orchestra), he was trained in the art of being a musician. De'Sean's mentors are jazz trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, jazz bassist Rodney Whitaker, and his high school music teacher and classical clarinetist Edward Quick. Since the age of 16, De'Sean Jones has been working in Detroit and all around the world, and has performed with many great musicians and bands, such as The Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Marcus Belgrave, Chick Corea, The Christian McBride Band, KiKi Sheard, Karen Clark Sheard, Dorinda Clark Cole, Lisa Page Brooks, Yolanda Adams, Lawrence Williams, Regina Carter, Sean Jones, GALAXY2GALAXY and many more. De'Sean Jones is now 20 years old and is currently looking to further pursue a career as a professional musician. As a Christian first, and a musician second, De'Sean Jones' primary focus is ministry through music. His goal is to reach people across the world with music, while continuously perfecting the gift God has given him. It is only through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior that i am able to use this gift, and all the praise, credit, glory, success, and honor belongs to him. I am just a vessel. De'Sean Jones |
